Meet the New Team!
Project 36 is a brand new project run by students as part of the Enactus society at Sussex University. The project is committed to reducing Iron Deficiency Anaemia in Central Nepal, in the area of Nepalese region of Tanahun which we are focusing on. The projects name is inspired by the statistic that 36% of of women of child-bearing age in this region are affected by Iron Deficiency Anaemia. This is a powerful statistic, considering IDA so easily treated by hospitals back in the UK.
With this key issue of nutrition that we are focusing on, we aim to empower mainly women and girls in region through deleivering innovative and engaging workshops, informing our audience on methods to provide efficient dietary iron supplementation. On top of this, we are seeking to engage our local community through our agricultural plan. This will involve displaying new sustainable techniques to grow iron rich vegetables.
After a very productive Summer of acquiring a £7000 investment from the BMEc Sussex Business department, and our team leader Chris winning the 'Summer Action Plan' for his project proposal, we are now on our way to sending out 7 Sussex students to Nepal this coming January! With this, we must fundraise £3,500 as part of are investment terms with the BMEc department.
Over the last few weeks we've recruited enthusiastic new students and so its time to meet everyone! By order of photos we have project founder Chris, project leader Sanjay, Dinda, James, Dinesh, Shimal, Kasim, Priya, Anna, Alasdair and Fife.
